But you keep us guessing about what the choice is that you made. I'm curious.

I like that mantra. 'My inner voice resounding, I am free'.

Chapter 1

A new poem

This is poem's main theme is about making a choice, not regretting that choice, and being free, free to be yourself regardless of what yours peers do. What may be right for one person may be wrong for another.

Chapter 1

Lady Pirate

Unrepentant waves crash into the shore,

Freeing any guilt I feel at my choice,

My inner voice resounding,

I am Free.

The water a gleaming mirror,

Looking into my soul,

I feel a surge of unrelenting joy,

My inner voice resounding

I am free.

My old life almost forgotten,

How I laugh at the absurdity of it,

Be a Lady toe the line,

If you are lucky some handsome solider,

With aspirations to be a captain,

In want of a wife, will cast his eye towards you.

My inner voice resounding

I am free.

Now my life is simpler,

With my ship and my crew,

My ship her sails black as obsidian,

Illyria I named her,

A free spirit,chasing her destiny,

Dancing on the waves as she goes,

My inner voice resounding,

I am free.

Now I stand on this island shore,

Lost in the hypnotic waves that kiss the sand,

My crew burying our plunder,

A smile creeps on to my face at the memory,

The shock of the men when they saw me,

A woman in men’s clothes brandishing a sword,

My inner voice resounding

I am free.

I am unrepentant  I am free

Dancing on the waves I am free

Freeing myself from any guilt I am free

The sea my home I am free

My inner voice resounds.
