There are gifted male leaders.
But are men better suited for the lead? Are they better with responsibility?
What about women in leadership? What would you rather have as a boss, as a PM? A woman or a man?

I think we need a combination of masculine and feminine traits. One the one hand, any leadership position needs focus, drive, analysis and decision making power. On the other hand it needs inter personal skills, team building ability, attention to detail. Thanks for the business insider article. Good read.

Unnecessary question, perhaps you see the world as it is, and what has always been. War, violence, poverty, slavery of women, the suffering of children.

I think that men are better decision makers. Not all of them, but mostly. And blokes are more competitive, more driven, which is good for the economy. You need both men and women why pit them against each other?

Women are more patient. That's why they don't make as many mistakes IMO. They make better headmistresses and staff managers. But this depends on industry you know..in construction or computing companies and things like that, I don't see females leading successfully.

Women do not make better leaders. Indira Ghandi became like a dictator in India. It's because of the Sikh riot massacre she was killed. Benazir Bhutto was corrupt. You can look at bad female leaders just as you can male leaders. You mention Thatcher. People are still bitter because of how ruthless she was. People are people.

We can all cite bad examples, after all there are 3.5 Billion women in the world. For these examples though you had to go 40 years back in time to the other side of the world whereas for violent examples of male leadership you can look at yesterday's news paper. I think you strengthen the point..

Ok fair play. I think this is a simplistic nonsensical question. You never reduce a subject like that to yes or no, especially as billions of people are involved. I was irritated by the attitude of 'men are messing this up women would do better, which I think is wishful thinking. Humans = humans

Regardless of what we THINK, there will always be more male leadership than female. I think it's because men are that much more ambitious than us girls. We don't have that amount of testosterone in our veins.

Women quite often. At least in middle-tier and where it concerns people management. If the pressure becomes too high it's better if the woman is single really IMO. But I also agree with Selena's point. I feel the corporate world can really shred people. For government and high stake finance that's a boys game. Men made those jobs they may as well work them too.

Women are not as power hungry. When they get it they handle it better than men. Just my opinion.

I think a very good example is Iceland. Geir Haarde was prime minister before the financial crisis, and Mr Haarde was a big spender. Iceland had more than its fair share of that crisis, and sure enough, I think their cabinet fell. The next prime minister was a woman who knew something about saving and balancing the books, and she worked that country back out of the mire. Haven't you seen this kind of thing on a micro scale? There are plenty of women who are spend crazy and irresponsible, believe me I know a few of them. But I would more often trust a woman with the task of problem solving. We seem to have a little bit more in terms of balance, communication and problem solving skills and self control. I have to speak up here for myself. Wouldn't it be nice if the boys spoke up for the girls and vica versa? :) In a perfect world maybe. Don't discount women, that's all I really mean to say. look at the leader Europe has in Merkel. We don't agree on everything with her, but is there another leader like her on the continent?

Bump!

The next Scottish Parliament elections are in a few weeks and the SNP, Labour and Tories all have female leaders seeking election. Is this a sign that Woman are becoming to be seen better leaders or at least more on par with men? Can you ever envisage a UK general election where the 3 biggest parties are represented by female candidates?

Men, mainly because men are more emotionally stable as they don't have to contend with hormonal fluctuations on a monthly basis. You may laugh but I have seen it affect many women in various ways.

Women have more challenges in their body. They have periods and they get pregnant. In spite of that they are more balanced in leadership roles than men. THAT's why women are better leaders.
