I changed jobs on August 30th. And it's taken me this long to start to talk about it, as it was quite emotional. Your job becomes like something of a second (or even first) home. I'm fine now, settled.
I read something over the weekend on company policy that made me think: why do companies lose their best people? My top 3 reasons are:
1 Favouritism. When promotions or raises are given because of relations rather than merit, it breeds resentment.
2 Workload. When you become a beast of burden, tottering under the load, you start to look for a way out.
3 Lack of appreciation. There are so many ways to show appreciation: through words, attitude, recognition, bonuses. When it's not shown, you may as well conclude that you are taken for granted. Sooner or later, people will pack up and seek greener pastures.
