I think this is a very important debate. The pro-cannabis lobby has graduated, almost, with their Its Better Than Alcohol rhetoric. But it doesn't work. Skunk is harmful and addictive. Share your stories here, for or against.

It is if you are a part of a small minority that is affected. People compare it to alcohol because its so much the same: some people are affected, some others are not. Dont police the rest of the world because of some exceptions.

Whatever our opinion, you have to take note of an independent study.

The Independent today prints this. (And though u printed rubbish article I still followed u Voice of Reason!!!)
It is, however, problematic to extrapolate on this small-sized sample, chosen specifically because of the area’s notorious cannabis predilection; the researchers themselves state their conclusions carefully.

As ever with these sorts of studies, there remain questions over the reliability of self-reporting and whether these skunk smokers were already psychologically susceptible.

Though it might be a step to far to use as evidence that weed is to blame for a quarter of ‘all new serious mental disorders’ – as the Mail on Sunday did – the findings are significant for the study's interrogation of pot potency and use frequency.

There is a big rethink in process on the whole issue now. But that does not really affect reality that much. A good part of this skunk is homegrown and very hard to keep tabs on it. Will they raid every house? i dont think so..

I have enough anecdotes from my own circle of friends. Cannabis is the biggest slowdown agent, professionally and personally. I have little sympathy for it anymore.

I think there'a a lot of over-reacting going on. And when people are wielding this report as a weapon, the tactic will just back fire.

You can say that I was hooked for 28 months where I was little good to anyone least of all myself. Lost my job lost a relationship. Many people manage pretty well but it depends on how your put together. Finally I snapped out in 2011, and I'm lucky to have my life sorted.

So if I may ask; how did you kick the habit?

For me it was most;y human support that did it really. I enlisted (!) some very good friends to be accountable to and for the rest of it I chose for a lot of activity and a cold turkey break from it all. Worked for me. I gradually had got myself in a bit of a cloud. A literal and virtual cloud you might say :) It was a matter of walking out of that cloud into the sunshine again. I maintain that weed is good for some people or at least very manageable but not for myself as it turned out. The friends I had made through it I have drifted away from now too.

I had it once during a weekend in Amsterdam with a group from class. I felt nothing until the next day afternoon and i got dizzy as a bat. I went to lie down and was laughing for over an hour. Weirdest time ever.
