Recently there's been a lot of calls to scrap the License Fee, where do you stand on this debate? Do consumers get value from the £145.50 spent every year or is a complete waste of taxpayers money? Join the debate:

Yes. I don't watch any BBC programming other than The Apprentice and the odd live sporting event, I don't use the BBC website or listen to any BBC radio channels, so why am I paying £145 a year for a service that I barely use? I have no problem paying for something I use or for programming I actually watch but in age of multi-channel and digital entertainment, why is the Licence Fee so expensive? I say scrap it and find some sort of pay as you view/use system as an alternative or raise the funds through adverts and sponsorship like everywhere else.

Some people get the value I certainly don't I maybe watch 2 or 3 hours tv a week, some weeks less. That system was started when the whole family used to sit around the telly watching BBC and ITV. It seems like a million miles years ago.

On top of what I was saying earlier, I forgot to mention that BBC have lost the rights to half of the Six Nations Rugby championship, The Open championship, The Olympics from 2022 onwards and their Darts, FA Cup, Snooker and F1 deals expire over the next few years, so the loss of sport may not end there and we already know that the BBC Three TV channel is toast. Will the price of the Licence fee go down to reflect this? Of course not.

Absolutely people are far enough stretched as it is. They could at least lower it. The BBC salaries in higher management are silly money. Let those people get a payout to start with.

I don't pay it anymore. When they come round I show them in and say look this screen is only used for streaming and games and the occasional dvd. They can't tell me a thing.

Sorry, but what a bizarre comparison. Sky offer over 600 channels, over 60 of which are available in HD. They also offer far superior programming, on demand, pausing/rewinding live TV, series link, recording capabilities and much more and their cheapest package is only £20 a month, only £8 more than the TV licence and all that offers is a couple of channels, radio channels and a news website service miles behind Sky's alternative. 40p a day is not much to pay for a service or product that you use but the fact that some people are forced to pay 40p for something they don't use or only use occasionally isn't fair in my opinion.
