Ah yes, I was reading the Alchemist. I think this was a very popular book. Young man goes out and looks for the secret to life, learns many lessons. It was ok. I think that Paul Coelho is Brazilean.

What did you think of it, Alex.. I read the Alchemist too and must say I found Coulho to be an insufferable and pretentious pope of pop philosophy.

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Absolutely incredible book. 6 stories set in different times, past and future, all written in different styles and different formats. All of the characters are reincarnations of the same souls interacting with each other throughout history. Highly, highly recommended.

I saw the movie. I think as a movie, it doesn't really clinch it.

I'm reading Letters to a Young Novelist by Mario Llosa. Amazing. Can't recommend it highly enough. I thought there would be a topic here about 'what're you reading' and sure enough I fished it out :)

Truman Capote was a bril author shame the guy did not do more work. He flushed away his life with the Wiskey bottle.

I just read the Cursed Child by you-know-who and am reading Zero K by Don DeLilo. I'm only 40 pages in but it's interesting.

Im reading the cursed child but why dont they make it into a normal novel? A normal novel reads so much better.

Okay Dostoyevsky is a very good writer but I was 450 pages into it and I still could not tell you what it really was about or where it was going. Just a lot of interesting characters. Then at the trial of Dmitri I was let down because basically nothing was resolved. Yes the book pays off, it's a good read but the investment outweighs the pay off.

Gilead and Home by Marilynne Robinson. It's a historic novel. I love these books that play at the start of the 20th century. It takes me right there.
