Should Hollywood invest in more original film ideas and concepts?

Hollywood has been cashing heavily on its reboots, remakes and sequels. The results at the Box office speak for themselves but should more original ideas be created, for example Christopher Nolan's Inception was a colossal original hit, should Hollywood start investing in more originality?
Have your say..

Hi George... I definitely believe Hollywood should be sourcing and investing films with far more originality than they have been putting out in the last decade. It appears Hollywood are not alone in this.

It's just like West End theatre. Risk is a dirty and scary word. If the 'product' is tried and tested, some producer will back it with the £££. And we have to watch it!

Absolutely. There's very little imagination and originality left in Hollywood these days and I'd tar TV with the same brush. I love when comic book material is brought to both the big and small screen but the amount of superhero/comic book movie reboots and TV spinoffs kicking around at the moment is ridiculous and total overkill. Like Penner touches on, it's all about risk and these ideas are low risk as people watch them in their millions so until viewer habits change, Hollywood will sadly continue to reap the benefits that sequels, reboots and remakes provide.

Of course they should. Who needs this warmed up instant microwaved formula shite? Of course there is a lot of risk involved in producing films, but many of these movies? You know the end once you've seen the first 5 minutes. Where's the fun in THAT?
